The name “gynecology” comes from the Greek “gyne” – which means “women’s health”, and is associated with the study of diseases inherent only to the female body, mainly the reproductive system. This definition is the most important since it is where I will focus later.
My mother is a gynecologist, and during my childhood I spent a lot of time in the hospital accompanying him, and he even took some guards with me. It was at the age of 10 when I saw my first cesarean section, it was impressive in every way, and from then on it was clear to me that my destiny was to be a gynecologist.
I won’t talk much about my student life. I will only say that the 6 years of university were the most unforgettable of my life, I always remember this time with a smile and with great affection.
The road to becoming a medical specialist is never easy. You need a daily effort to expand knowledge and practical skills, which will later be vital to working with patients.
Despite all the difficulties I faced during these years, there was not a single day that I regretted my choice.
My destiny, and here we return to the oldest definition of “gynecology”, would be to help women take better care of their health.
Women’s health requires special care. Periodically visiting the gynecological consultation is necessary as a preventive measure; detecting and preventing diseases or finding the contraceptive method that best suits each woman can avoid problems in the future.
Therefore, a timely gynecological visit with symptoms associated, at first glance, with minor problems, helps a woman to avoid serious health problems in the future.
The work of a gynecologist requires in-depth knowledge of the female reproductive system and high professionalism. Keeping track of such intimate topics for women requires great tact and a very high psychological sensitivity. It is important to explain her diagnosis to each patient so that they are aware at all times of what is going well and, of course, what needs to be improved. In the same way, it is important that they fully understand the treatment to be followed. Pedagogical work becomes vital to prevent old symptoms from reappearing and to raise awareness of the importance of good health.
Choosing this job means having to assume that the learning process lasts a lifetime, this is how a doctor achieves excellence and can guarantee high quality in his consultation throughout his professional life. The deep knowledge of the subject is the only way to follow in order to fulfill the objective of a good gynecological professional. Diagnostic and treatment methods are constantly changing and must be carefully studied and selected.
During my professional life I have been able to observe that my patients had great doubts in the field of their sexuality, as well as in sexuality as a couple. Normally patients have great reservations when it comes to expressing these queries and it is necessary to guide them so that the process is done in a natural way.
That is why I decided to specialize in such a specific field and broaden my knowledge in medical sexology and couples therapy. In this way, I can offer a complete diagnosis and provide a solution to all those situations that my patients may have.
